How to play WWYD

A player picks a scenario card at random from the card box.

They read out the scenario number on the bottom of the card – this allows the Facilitator to locates the scenario in the guide – while the player to reads the scenario headline to the group.

There are two different types of scenario:

Detailed (Rational) Scenarios take a little longer and allow the players to discuss the various options and nuances of the scenario before deciding what they would do.

Short (Emotional) Scenario require a decision under time pressure, the players have 30 seconds to understand the scenario and make a decision about what they would do

The facilitator leads a discussion around the scenario, using the prompts provided in the scenario guide, as well as working with the group to add a familiar local context to the situation.

At the end of the round, appropriate points are awarded to each player.  Players move their token forward or backwards along the board.

  • Getting people to think about and discuss their behaviour and choices is more important than the gameplay.
  • The facilitator controls the speed and pace of the game, even with the ability to award points to fit with their organisation’s culture.
